About Me

EDUCATION AND TRAINING BACKGROUND:

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. I earned my Doctorate of Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Integrative Psychology, at Alliant International University in San Diego, California in 2014. I have over 15 years of experience in the field of mental health. I have worked in private practice, outpatient, intensive, residential, substance rehabilitation, and crisis care settings treating a variety of clinical concerns.

PERSONAL:

In my personal life people tell me that I’m easy to talk to, that I ask curious questions, and that I’m caring. Those are not skills taught in graduate school; rather, those are aspects of my personality that I believe are strengths in my role as a psychologist. I work hard to create a nonjudgmental and compassionate environment so that you feel supported by me while also being challenged for overall growth. Research tells us that the number one factor for therapeutic success and accomplishing your goals is the goodness of fit in the therapist-client relationship.

THERAPEUTIC PHILOSOPHY:

I believe life's experiences shape us, that we're always learning from those experiences.
I believe that people inherently have the ability to adapt and heal. Whether as simple as a scrape to the skin, or as complex as abuse or trauma, our body finds ways of healing itself. Most of the time this is unconscious. Often the healing and learning was adaptive for a time, but later in life those coping mechanisms may not serve you. I'll work with you to help you understand: the ways life experiences have shaped you, how you can heal from negative life events, how to cope and overcome life's stresses, and how to live a more authentic and fulfilled life.
